About HainanInc

HainanInc is an independent corporate advisory group serving foreign capital and high-net-worth principals entering China's Hainan Free Trade Port. We exist for one reason: the gap between the Free Trade Port's published promise and its administrative practice is wide, and crossing it without local discipline is expensive.

Our working method is deliberately narrow. We take on a limited number of engagements, assign each a single accountable team, and run every filing, renewal, and obligation on a documented calendar. Clients see the same rigour in a visa renewal as in an entity formation.

Our purpose

We make the Free Trade Port navigable.

Hainan publishes an ambitious set of incentives. What it does not publish is the administrative practice around them: which filings actually gate which approvals, how long a step really takes, what a bank will ask for before it moves capital, and where a routine renewal quietly lapses if nobody is tracking it.

That gap is where inbound capital loses time and money. Closing it is the whole of what we do — not by knowing the regulations better than the people who wrote them, but by running the process in a documented, repeatable way so that nothing depends on someone remembering.

Accountable contact from assessment to filing

We are a deliberately small practice and we intend to stay one. The engagement model below is not a service tier; it is how every engagement runs, from a single visa renewal to a full entity formation.

How we work

One accountable team

The people who take your first call manage your filing calendar a year later. No handover between intake and delivery, and no re-explaining your structure to someone new.

One documented calendar

Every filing, renewal and obligation an engagement carries is recorded with its deadline and its owner. You see it, and you are told before a deadline needs something from you.

Scope agreed in writing

What we will do, what we will deliver, and what falls outside the work is set out before we start. Scope changes are agreed before the work, never invoiced after it.

The corporate standard

  1. 01

    Initial Assessment

A confidential review of your objectives, capital structure, and jurisdictional exposure to establish the correct entry strategy.

  2. 02

    Strategic Proposal

A written proposal setting out entity structure, timeline, and fee architecture, presented for your approval before any engagement begins.

  3. 03

    Entity & Banking Execution

Formation, licensing, and corporate banking introductions executed against the approved proposal, with milestone reporting throughout.

  4. 04

    Ongoing Compliance

Continuous monitoring of filing obligations, substance requirements, and regulatory change, so your standing in the Free Trade Port remains uninterrupted.

Professional conduct

Clients engage us because getting something wrong in a regulated environment is expensive. That makes our own standards part of what we are selling: a compliance adviser whose conduct is negotiable is not worth engaging.

We publish the standard we hold ourselves to rather than describing it in general terms. It covers anti-bribery and facilitation payments, conflicts of interest, how we handle client information, and how anyone — including a client — raises a concern about our conduct without fear of it counting against them.

The same principle governs what we say we can do. Several activities this practice touches — keeping another company's statutory books and filing its returns, acting as the legal employer of someone else's staff, filing a trademark for a foreign applicant — are licensed activities in mainland China, and we hold none of those licences. Rather than covering that with a general reference to partners, every affected service page names the specific licence, its issuing authority, and exactly where the line falls between the work we do and the work the licensed firm carries. A client should know which half is which before engaging, not after.

Our services

Our practice areas cover the whole life of a foreign-owned presence in Hainan — from the feasibility assessment made before anything is filed, through formation and licensing, payroll, tax and ongoing compliance, to the deregistration that closes an entity properly — alongside the Free Trade Port incentives that are the reason to be here rather than anywhere else in China. One engagement model means a single accountable team across all of them.

We make Hainan navigable.

The Free Trade Port rewards preparation and penalises gaps in compliance. Our role is to shorten that learning curve: one engagement, one accountable team, and a documented path from first assessment to ongoing compliance.
